Waje review: a Nigerian casino that runs in naira

Waje is one of the few casinos in our ranking that is actually built for Nigeria. It is run by Fortune House Network Limited (RC 1855033) from Abuja and, according to the operator's own site, holds licence NLRC 00000038 from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission plus a permit from the Federal Ministry's FSGRN. We have not yet confirmed the licence in the NLRC's public register ourselves. Waje runs a website and apps for Android and iOS, and you can only play while you are in Nigeria.

Naira from start to finish

Everything runs in naira. Deposits go through OPay, PalmPay or a bank transfer, with quick buttons from ₦1,000 and a maximum of ₦1,000,000 per deposit. There is no crypto at all, which makes Waje the simplest choice in our ranking if you have never bought USDT. Withdrawals go only to a bank account in your own name, after an ID check with your NIN or passport.

₦600 on sign-up and the Super Sale

Right after registering, our account showed ₦600 with no deposit. Withdrawals open only after your first deposit. The main offer is a one-off Super Sale pack for ₦1,999: ₦2,000 plus 500 coins straight away, then ₦100 with more coins on the second and third day. There are also 7-day tasks and a daily chip. Note that purchases in promotions are not refundable.

Games

Besides its own local games Waje Whot and Waje Fish, Waje offers slots, fishing games, crash and quick games from studios such as TaDa and Betsoft, plus a sportsbook. The library is much smaller than at the big crypto casinos, and the operator does not publish a game count.

The rules that matter

  • Nigeria only. Waje checks your IP, device and GPS. Playing through a VPN can void winnings and freeze the account.
  • Turnover before withdrawal. A deposit can only be withdrawn after you have bet the full amount at least once.
  • Daily payout limits may apply.
  • Player reports are mixed. Some players report successful withdrawals, others complain about delays and blocked accounts. We have not run our own withdrawal test at Waje yet.

Who it suits

Players who want to stay entirely in naira, pay with OPay or PalmPay and prefer a local, Nigerian-licensed operator. If you want bigger libraries, faster checked payouts or crypto, look at BC.Game, which also offers a naira balance, or 1xSlots.

Licence and who runs it

Operator: Fortune House Network Limited (RC 1855033) · launch year not published

  • NLRC (Nigeria) · #NLRC 00000038
  • FSGRN (Nigeria) (number not published)

Nigeria licenses gambling at state level (for example the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority). This casino operates under an offshore licence, not a Nigerian one, so Nigerian regulators cannot help you in a dispute.

Nigeria is not on the casino's list of blocked countries.

Good

  • Nigerian licence from the NLRC, according to the operator: one of the few local operators we list
  • Everything in naira: deposits by OPay, PalmPay and bank transfer, no crypto needed
  • ₦600 on the account right after sign-up, with no deposit (seen in our account)
  • Local games Waje Whot and Waje Fish, plus slots, crash games and sports
  • Apps for Android and iOS, 24/7 support and a Telegram channel

Not so good

  • A deposit can only be withdrawn after you have bet the full amount once
  • Some players report delayed withdrawals and blocked accounts
